About
A Considered Approach to Hair
Three decades behind the chair and a salon of her own. and the time to get it right.
Meet Jodie
Jodie has been hairdressing for over thirty years, and Slate Hair is her own salon. Much of that career was spent in busy, high-end city centre salons, where the pace is quick and the standard isn't negotiable. That's where the technical grounding comes from, and the calm, which is the harder half to teach.
She has never treated learning as something you finish. Masterclasses, seminars, technical courses: thirty years in, she still books them to bring the latest techniques and fresh ideas back to the salon. It's the difference between work that is practised and work that is current.
Every appointment starts with a proper consultation, and she rates it as highly as the colour or the cut that follows. Genuinely listening to what you want, what your hair will actually take, and how much time you'll really spend on it in the morning is what separates a result you love in the chair from one you can still manage on a wet Tuesday. Full mobile call-out services are available for weddings and bridal parties across the area, covering detailed preview trials in the chair beforehand and on-site styling the morning of.
Balayage & lived-in colour
Hand-painted, dimensional colour matched to your skin tone and your routine. Built to grow out softly rather than demand an appointment every month.
Precision short cuts
Scissor and texture work on short, structured shapes. The cuts with nowhere to hide, and the ones she most enjoys doing.
Colour correction
Banded, brassy or grown-out colour put right, with a plan to bring the condition back alongside it. Always quoted in person after a proper look, never from a photo.
